Food market on Tuesdays on Piazza Medicea in Fivizzano

Local produce, also good for getting that 1 kg parmesan cheese and salamis to bring home. Open hours should be Tuesdays until approx. 12:30. If you are interested in antiques, there is also a market the 3d Sunday in the month. 

Tasting tours and cooking classes

If you are really a foodie and want to visit local producers, our friend Ilaria organises small tours. You can also learn how to make your own pasta in one of her cooking classes. http://www.bed-and-breakfast-lunigiana.it/

Supermarkets

Punto/Carrefour is the supermarket in Fivizzano

On your way to Fivizzano, you will probably also pass Pallerone, where Conad and Doro also offers good shopping for the bulk supplies. 

Local stores

Most stores are located along the Via Roma in Fivizzano, and why not stop for an espresso at one of the coffee bars. Make sure you go shopping before 13 and after 17, as a lot of shops are closed for business in the hottest time during the day. Here are the words to look out for to find the produce you are looking for:

Panificio – focaccia and other types of bread

Cheese, ricotta and meat directly from the farm
In Cormezzano, do not miss the sign that says Formaggio, venta diretta. Amazing cheese directly from the owner behind the counter, and some great meat. They also have ricotta, youghurt according to season. Website here.  
 

All set to go back to the house and enjoy some antipasto or cook something up on the outdoor kitchen!

Fivizzano

Country club TripAdvisor
Have a set menu with drink for €12. If you ask, there are usually some specials that are not mentioned on the menu, such as lobster pasta or grilled fish.

Caffe Elvetico  Tripadvisor
In summer 2020 offers a good menu with antipasto, primo (pasta) and secondi (meat/fish dishes). Otherwise Elvetico mostly known for more simple food, bar style.

Ristorante Pizzeria Medicea TripAdvisor
Popular local pizza place.Has a small a la carte menu if you want something else than pizza. Can recommend a secondi called Pajero - a thin piece of meat with rocket salad and cherry tomatoes.

Verrucola – just north of Fivizzano

Locanda al Castello Tripadvisor
Just at the entrance of the village surrounding the castle. Charming restaurant that has just set up outdoor tables during summer. If you come for lunch you can get a pranzo di lavoro (workers lunch) with a primi, a secondi, coffee and some wine for €12. Locals come here for their lunch break.

Towards Agnino

Great place approx. 15 min from the house. Has a very nice outdoor piazza with candelights where Ilaria will welcome you. Take a peek inside as Ilaria and her family has kept the charms of the old house. You need to book in advance though, Ilaria can only take15 pax and guests in her agriturismo have first reservations. €35 per person (2019) inklusive gårdens vin.

Pizzeria da Beatrice, Monti  – TripAdvisor
Looks quite dull from the outside, but has a nice patio and really good food when we have been there.

Agriturismo Montagna Verde, TaponeccoTripadvisor
Real Italian Sunday luncheon, with as many dishes that you stop counting. Do count on spending the full afternoon here. Quite popular, so make a reservation well in advance. Takes approx. 40 min by car.

Towards Posara

Il Sicomoro – Tripadvisor
Albergo with a nice restaurant. Tip to take the Tuscan crostini for antipasto.

La Valle – meatstore with outdoor grill, Rometta – Tripadvisor
Between Rometta and Serricolo is a nice meatstore on the south side of the road. You can buy meat and what you wish to drink in the store and barbecue on their outdoor bbq:s.ez
